Swim with the Fishes at Pambato Reef on Your Honda Bay Tour

Honda Bay is one of the many eco-attractions in Puerto Princesa. The bay shows the rich marine life of Palawan. You will see hundreds of species of fish and beautiful corals. 

The Sta. Lourdes wharf, which is the drop off point for a Honda Bay tour, is just 15 to 20 minutes away from the city proper. A tour includes 3 to 5 stops. Depending on the itinerary prepared by your licensed tour guide, you may visit Pandan Island, LuLi Island, Pambato Reef, Starfish Island and Cowrie Island.

Pambato Reef

This is a marine sanctuary where you will see giant clams, different types of corals and thousands of fishes. On your Honda Bay tour, you’ll know you’re in Pambato Reef once you see the floating raft in shape of a turtle.

During this part of your Honda Bay tour, you will be given an experienced guide who will swim with you so he can point out interesting sites underwater like staghorn corals, brain corals and giant clams. After which, you will be allowed to snorkel at the reef for as long as you like.

Things to Remember when Snorkeling at Pambato Reef on Your Honda Bay Tour:

• Wearing of life jackets are strictly implemented.Even if you are a good swimmer, it is best to wear a life vest at Pambato Reef. The shallow section of the reef as about 10 feet deep.
• No Fish Feeding. You may have read or heard tourists who were able to feed the fish on their Honda Bay tour. Right now, fish feeding is discouraged for the entire tour. The reason is the diet (and behavior) of the fishes is altered when tourists are always feeding them with bread.
• Don’t go outside of the perimeter. At Pambato Reef, buoys and ropes mark the area that you are allowed to snorkel and swim in. You will be advised not to go over the perimeter because that part of the sea is a protected area.
• Leave Your Slippers at the Raft. If you are wearing slippers, you will be asked to leave them at the raft. You may wear flippers or aqua shoes.
